This session in one word.
I love, Love, LOVED this session! First of all I just love this family and second, I am in LOVE with this location!
Michelle picked the location for their portraits this year and I am obsessed with it! This venue is so beautiful that it looks fake. It is called Cy-Hope and it has lakes, fountains, willow trees, log cabins and even a little Alamo! You read that right – a little Alamo! I am headed back this Spring with one of my brides and I can not wait!
Their session was scheduled for 8:00 am and I was very nervous on the way as the fog was so thick that you could cut it with a knife. You know what I mean. Halloween, scary, spooky fog. Before I got there it cleared off and I let out a big sigh of relief.
As it turned out we timed our session just right because as we headed back to the parking lot…the fog rolled in. We cut that one close for sure but we did great and got some beautiful portraits. These kids are used to Michelle taking their photos and boy can they pose.
If you’ve been around here for a while you’ve seen this beautiful family several times and little Meredith quite a few. Her maternity, newborn, 6 month and cake smash sessions have all graced my blog pages.
During the session Michelle mentioned to me that she hadn’t gotten a good picture of Meredith’s baby blues since our last session. Well Michelle…..here you go! I’m happy to help! I could photograph those beautiful blue eyes all day!! *mwah*
Emily & Sam met when her Sorority Sister asked her if she wanted to go over her friends house before they went out dancing one night. Emily agree and while they were there, she met Sam. They exchanged numbers through Facebook (because all the kewl kids are doing it right?) and became instant friends. Emily was not looking for a relationship at the time but Sam won her over won me over with his kind heart.
Emily loves how genuine he is and that he is himself the most when he is around her. Sam is also kind, funny and a hard worker. She admires his work ethic and that he is not afraid to work hard to achieve their dreams.
Sam shared how special and loved that Emily makes him feel. She can make him smile in his hardest times and he adores that she is caring, beautiful and loving. Sam adds Emily is a very caring individual, she can brighten anyone’s day (including his) every single day. She also puts up at with his crazy self and lets him be crazy at any hour of the day. Also with his career their schedule can sometimes be crazy including lots of hours of overtime. She totally understands and never complains.
When Emily shared their proposal story with me, I couldn’t wait to share. It was so sweet! I was afraid I couldn’t do it justice telling it myself so I asked Emily to share. So….without further adieu…refill your coffee and read on.
“Sam and I went on a summer vacation to Cabo San Lucas in July. He insisted that he take his backpack. I though it was weird because I just wanted to take a recycle bag in case anything happened to it.
On Friday, July 27 we went on a zip lining adventure. After the course was over I found Sam standing over by a tree and thought it was weird and asked him what he was doing? He told me he was just looking at the trees. I thought in my head is he about to propose? But he didn’t.
Well, then I told him that our ride was here and it was time to go back to the resort. I was extremely hot and sweaty from the course and all I wanted to do was change and get something in my belly.
So in true Emily fashion I complained and wanted to eat before we did anything else. Sam insisted that we go and walk on the beach in the middle of that day when it was blazing hot outside. We ate first. All I wanted to do was get in the water and I kept telling him okay I am done with this let’s go get in the pool.
Then all of a sudden he turned around and I asked him if he was okay because he looked like he was having a hard time getting up. Right before my eyes he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was all such a blur and honestly I don’t even remember what he said because I was waiting for this day for forever. I just remember him telling me that he loves me so much and he would love for me to be his wife.
He put the ring on my finger and not even two seconds later the backpack with his wallet and keys to the hotel room went flying into the ocean. Our shoes, towels, everything, and we went chasing after them. Thankfully we got them, but it made us laugh so hard. Only us.”
Emily also told me that at one point when she questioned why they had the backpack and he was being protective of it he told her that there was nothing in it and she was welcome to check it out. She later learned that he had rolled up the ring in a pair of socks so that if she had looked inside…she’d have seen nothing out of the ordinary.
Well played Sam my friend, well played!
What a difference a couple of years makes! Just look how grown up this adorable bunch is?
They braved the bright morning light for their session this year. Sun & wind gave us a one heck of a photographic challenge but it turned out gorgeous though don’t you think? Look at those eyes. Beautiful!
The girls Astros shirts were sparkly. Yes please. I’ll take 2! he he So much energy!
Ah to be young again eh? If I can figure out a way to bottle that energy who wants the first bottle? he he
This sweet family! The only thing I like more than taking their photos is gushing about them. Sweetest family ever! Seriously y’all!
Casey opted to do their family portraits at home this year. They have a beautiful home and I was completely on board with it. Someone forgot to let little Lincoln know that though. He was just not having it. Any of it. It was the cutest thing. Mom & Dad are so patient with both of their littles and as soon as we realized that he was semi ok as long as no one said the “P” word (picture) we were able to get some cute shots.
It was the funniest thing. I was taking photos of Mom and precious Rory and not 3 feet away little Lincoln was sitting on the floor bawling like a baby. Well, ok…he is a baby but I’m sure you get the picture.
These are the fun photoshoots that will make Mom & Dad smile years from now when they look at the pictures and remember all of the chaos and tears off-camera that went with them. They will smile with nostalgia and wish they could go back to that very moment and hug their littles just one more time before they grew up. It happens in a blink.
In the meantime, they will frame their photos, hang them on the wall and high five each other before falling into bed exhausted. Are ya feeling me all you Mom’s and Dad’s out there? You’ve been there haven’t you? Me too my friends.
Live in the moment, embrace the chaos, the imperfection and the “real”. Casey always smiles and says, “this is so us.” I just love her…we should all learn a bit these two.
I can’t wait til our next photographic adventure!
This fall will be the third year that I have been blessed to photograph this family. I love working with them and gush about them every time I post. I was super excited when Casey called me to photograph their extended family at their beautiful family home in Katy, Texas.
Mom and Dad (or Grandpa and Grandma) are so cute and still clearly nuts about each other after all these years. I just love the way they are looking at each other. So very sweet! #relationshipgoals
As it turns out, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree and whole family is fun! Is this a gorgeous clan or what? The weather was iffy that morning so we were challenged with a group of adorable littles and attempting to get them to all look the same direction as well as the fighting the humidity and threat of Mother Nature. We had a window of about 15 minutes before the rain came but managed to get some great photos!
After the rain started to fall we went inside and tried to get the littles to sit on the couch for a group pose. They were not having any of it but I think this photo is absolutely adorable. They need to recreate this exact shot when they are in their late teens or early twenties don’t you think? It makes me giggle.
Thank you as always Casey! Can’t wait for your family session in a couple of weeks!
Everything is coming up babies these days and I love it! If you’ve been around here for a while you may remember Rachel & Chad from their wedding and more recently, their maternity photos. I’ve shared some fun stories of little Rachel when she was a member of one of my Girl Scout Troops and the fun times we had.
There have been 5 troop babies born this year so my Facebook feed is full of sweet little faces and tired, but happy Mommies & Daddies. It fills my heart every time I scroll.
Rachel, Kelsey & my oldest daughter, Stacie, still hang out as much as they can. All three have had babies in the last 12 months.
Rachel and Stacie are 2 days apart and whatdya know…Jakobi & my newest wee one, Sarai, are only 3 days apart! That’s just so exciting! We attempted to do their newborn photos together but Sarai was not having any of it. I will try again soon to get some good photos of her but in the meantime….you’ll just have to “ooooo” and “ahhhhhh” after Mr. Jakobi’s handsome little self!
Welcome to the world little man! Thank you for the good snuggles. I’m already excited about your next session!
Babies, babies….babies everywhere. Love it! I mean, who doesn’t just love these adorable little faces? The blog is being taken over by babies and bellies these days and I’m not complaining one bit! Little Miss Kendall was quite the ham at her 9 month photo shoot splish slashing around in her birthday suit.
One of my favorite things about photographing her, besides her little bubbly smile and smile is all of the cute head bands and bows her Mom has. She never tries to take them off either. Little Missy here is quite the little Princess. I just love it!
She is such a ham she literally made us laugh out loud as I was snapping away. Happy and smiley should be her middle names. In the August heat in Texas who wouldn’t be happy splashing around in an old tub?
I wish I could take credit for this adorable set-up but I can’t. It was her Mom, Kelsey’s idea. It was perfect! I may have to borrow this set-up someday myself. We are already planning her 1 year cake smash session. I’m sure her Mom will have all sorts of cute & creative ideas. I’m already counting the days!
How absolutely adorable is this precious newborn? Little Keegan was quite the squirmy fellow during his newborn photo session but I didn’t mind one bit I mean..just look at him. He looks like such a little man. And his name….love love love his name!
His photo session was held at his Mumzy & Paw Paw’s home in Montgomery, Texas and if you’ve ever seen two grandparents completely wrapped around one little finger…these two are! Most especially his Paw Paw. Mom is smitten as well and between the Grands and Auntie I think she just might get to hold him occassionally. *giggles*
Time to stop cooing over this little cutie and introduce baby Keegan. Enjoy!
My favorite memories of this pretty little mama are of chasing her around Girl Scout camp with worms and other fun bugs. She would run screaming, trying to hide behind her friends who of course…served her right back up to me. I was such a good leader right? Seems like only yesterday it was campfires, sing-a-longs and badges. The next thing you know, she’s getting married and just 5 short years later, here we are…taking maternity photos of her beautiful round belly!
If I’ve told that story once, I’ve told it a hundred times. It’s a good thing still loves me now that she’s all grown up. It’s also a good thing I gave her a early bug practice because before you know it, she and her husband Chad will be welcoming little Jakobi into the world and we all know how much little boys love snails and puppy dog tails.
I’m sure Rachel will be a pro at emptying pockets full of frogs and doodle bugs in to time at all and she will love every minute of it. She and Chad were goo-goo eyed and gushing about the impending arrival of their little bundle of joy during their maternity photo session at Spring Creek Park in Tomball and it was contagious.
Stick around….soon little Jakobi will make his blog debut. I can’t wait!
